Van Gogh Exhibition

On Monday I had the good fortune to accompany my friend Darryl to the NGV to look over the exquisite paintings of this famous artist. Fortunately due to Darryl being a member of the NGV we didn’t have to wait in the mile long queue to get tickets. We had our tickets within minutes of arriving at 11:30am but were unable to actually get in until 3:00pm. Not to worry, back into the city for some lunch and a look around.

Lunch was at Mr Tulks Cafe at The State Library. I had Pappardelle with Rabbit and it was pretty damned good. We got back to the gallery and were admitted about 2:45pm. The crowd inside the exhibit, it was overwhelming. We were constantly bumped and jostled as you can see by the blurry photos. We didn’t stop to read any of the information because we thought we would get a catalogue when we left but there were none. It was well worth seeing and I can now say that I’ve stood in front of a genuine Van Gogh. It was a good trip with pleasant company.

Vietnam vets museum

Situated on Phillip Island next to the air field, this is a wonderful place to visit. The Vietnam Vets are very close to my heart and not just because my cousin Terry went and served. In the past few years of going through Post Traumatic Stress myself, while hospitalized on four occasions at the repatriation hospital in Heidelberg I had the honor of meeting some of the most honorable men one could ever hope to meet and it is with gratitude that I called these people friends, each one trying to help each other. Not only Vietnam vets but young men who served in latter conflicts only to come home shattered in body and mind. We ask a great deal of our armed forces and they are willing to give all and by all I mean their life

First leg

Well that was pretty easy. Marysville to spencer street. Bus got in at 10:55. Now sitting on the bus to Koo We Rup where I’ll change for the last leg. I should be sitting in a coffee shop in Cowes by 2:00pm

Leaving home

It’s bitterly cold here this morning. A heavy frost to start the day but I’m warm and toasty in my bus. First time attempting this particular trip. If the bus gets in to spencer street on time and my bus for the next leg is running to schedule I’ll have 15 mins to swap buses. I hope the god of time tables is on the ball
